my mother's name is Pacita Lamagna Fernandez, she was born on April 4, 1935 and married Bueno Fernandez (+) when she was 23 years old. Nanay graduated from Harris Memorial College in 1957. from her stories she tells me about her assignments in Anda and evangelista in pangasinan as as CE deaconess.
I am her youngest daugther, and i remember that she brings me to preschool (San Nicolas UMC) when i was 3 years old, i don't like her leaving me that's why she stays in the classroom until my class ends. i grew up being familiar with bible stories because, she tells those stories to me when she stays with me in the classroom when i was in nursery.
let me share how i knew my mother:
nanay is a passive person... she is very nonconfrontational, she doesn't tell you her feelings but only to others. sometimes, she tells things to others while the person involved is eavesdropping about it. he he he i don't know if she had gotten into trouble with this...
nanay is adventurous... my childhood years were spent with her...i remember i go with nanay to "carayan" during saturday mornings to get whatever food or anything worth picking...we look for mushrooms, crickets, pick up pine cones until we can gather many pine cones which we can make into a christmas tree come december. she likes going around the fields and countryside looking for natural treasures.
nanay is messy...she do not clean up nor fix clutters at home, i don't know why she likes it that way, my cousins say that all nanay' siblings except auntie rebing have the same way of living - living with mess. i'm glad i did inherit that trait.
nanay eats healthy...she is not health conscious though...she just like eating vegetables, that's why at 76 she is still strong and healthy.
nanay expresses her love through unspoken gestures...she just gives me whatever things she thinks i could appreciate... or sometimes even without me telling her, she packs vegetables and other things for me to bring to manila.
nevertheless...i am who i am now because she is my mother....
nanay expresses her love through unspoken gestures...she just gives me whatever things she thinks i could appreciate... or sometimes even without me telling her, she packs vegetables and other things for me to bring to manila.
